iScout visual mobile search from Neven Vision
Neven Vision has introduced its i-Scout visual mobile search functionality to the US market.
Neven Vision founder and CEO Hartmut Neven, says that iScout is a better way for advertisers to get their messages out to mobile phones.
- Using a cameraphone, the user snaps a photo of an image, which is sent to Neven Vision’s recognition servers.
- The image is recognized using Neven Vision’s technology, and then relevant content – say, more information about a movie – is pushed to the phone.
- Or, the content could be a URL or a chance to purchase products or services.
"All these surfaces in the physical world ca n now be hyperlinked, and they all turn into added information. A milk bottle gets a whole different value," said Neven.
One example of i-Scout at work is a teenager takes a picture of a milk carton at breakfast. Within seconds, a promotional offer about a sporting event arrives on the phone.
iScout is different to the nThrum services which allows users access relevant information by them capturing text printed on any object such as a book, sign board, product and so on with the nThrum application installed onto their camera phone.
